Airfield
Räyskälä is famous for its plain terrain with forests,
lakes and fields, long days in the summer time and good thermal
conditions. There are no tricks about flying in Räyskälä. It has four
paved runways with associated taxiways. There is ample space for
landings and adequate parking facilities for gliders. The airfield is
the base of the Finnish Sports Flying Institute. Besides several gliding
clubs there is also an active parachuting club and ultra light and
experimental aircrafts.

You might notice that the distance between the camping area and runways (especially RWY 12 and 08)
can be long - so a bike comes in very handy.
Shared kitchen
We have a small place for cooking in the Small Classroom (old part
of motel). There is a small cooker and sink, microwave, fridge and
coffee maker available. Some pots, pans and other kitchen accessories
available too.
Separate fridge and dishwashing place
A separate, bigger fridge for common use is situated in the motel
hall. Dishwashing place is situated in the Big Sauna building, close to
the toilets. Notice that you can find a fridge and a dishwashing place
in the shared kitchen too.
Washing machines
Washing machines are located in the Big Sauna building restrooms .
You need three tokens per wash. Tokens can be bought at the Café. Use
your own laundry detergent, closest place to buy some is Räyskälä
village shop.
Drinking water
Tap
water is good for drinking in Finland. Drinking water is also
available in taps around the camping area. That is the best tasting
water in Räyskälä.
NOTICE! Do not drink from taps in the airfield and hangar area, as
the water there is drawn from the lake.
TV
There is one TV for common use in the Big classroom at
the motel.
In Finland we have 9 free TV-channels: 5 government-owned and 4 private
commercial channels. Programmes are mostly in Finnish or English, some
are in Spanish or Swedish. One channel, YLE FST 5, is mostly in Swedish.
Programmes and movies are always shown in their original language, with
Finnish subtitles. Most popular international shows are available too (Friends,
Desperate Housewives, Simpsons, House, Lost etc.) Summer is usually the
time for re-runs.
You can find more info from
Expat-pages (about tv listings etc.)
Restaurant
If the evening is beautiful, there is always a group of
people spending time and enjoying the sunshine. You can find everyone
from the back terrace of the café.
Barbecue
Usually most of the people spend their evenings around barbecues
making some dinner and flying the day's flights (over and over) again.
Behind the motel there is a big barbecue building for common use.
Saunas
Before barbecue, after a long day of flying you'll find everyone in
the sauna. There are two saunas close
to the motel right by the lake.
Do you know how to
bathe in sauna?
Toilets and showers
Toilets are located at the motel, and at the other end of the Big
Sauna building there are also showers. Most of the
motel rooms have toilets and showers too.
