03.07. 08:49 A drop of rain...no grid...briefings yes !
8.45
; Rain in Rayskala,…just a drop at this stage,but still… I see Janne walking
around, the hands in the pocket and looking at the skies from different sites of
the field. He might hope that he has influence on it.
Briefings at
the normal time, which might be a bit difficult for some as some trailers
arrived only back in the early morning. And….some had a really great night
yesterday evening, not going to bed too early either. And what about more
then 9 hours flying..... For sure those pilots would love a bit of rest too , of
course only when flying is impossible. Most pilots here want to fly every day!
No grid today I just heard from Silva and…when the weather improves in
the afternoon, crews are allowed to fly if they wish.
See you after the
briefings.
03.07. 10:22 NTT task for today.....
9.45; Silva
opened the TC briefing with; “ Welcome at normal Finnish competition weather.”
Janne added that there will be rain till at least noon and then it should
clear, so crew is able to fly in the later afternoon.
Today pilots and
crew arrived in rain coats , pullovers , [it was only 16 dgr. this morning at
8.00 ] and…. with umbrellas . Yesterday was a very complicated flying day a
real challenge ! In any case it was proofed, that the tasks were OK and the
weather at most places as well. The Norwegian and Dutch pilots showed that even
till 21.38 it was possible to glide, as that was the time they made their
out-landing. Winner Felipe Levin even flew with a speed of 103.2 km over the
556.8 km task, which is exceptional good under the circumstances. He received
the well deserved , blue this time, day-8-winner-cap and bottle. The club
class winner TB Tobias Stumpfl flew with a speed of 87.5 km. receiving a blue
cap as well.
From Rayskala Tero Koivunen , a local pilot, flew with his
LS 8 an 834 km. flight yesterday leading the OLC on July 2.
Tomorrow
looks promising for soaring…… Not …we fly …but it seems OK.
Yesterday’s
Karaoke event was a great success and on the end of the briefing we could hear
some of the performances. Great fun but………. no material for a cd.
So No
Task Today. I hope the “Office babes” survived the night , as they are
supposed to be in the PROFILE today. Hope Felipe has time to describe his great
day yesterday and share it with us and tomorrow our young Finnish pilot flying
N3 Altti will be the guest. The last profile will be for Axel , to give us an
introduction to Musbach where the next JWGC will be held. More later.
03.07. 11:24 See you tonight...or tomorrow !
11.15;It looks I
will not be back today or maybe, later in the evening. The organization asked
with a smile…for “silence” as they need their rest???? The office was closed
before I knew and the “yellow-box-key “ is in there. Films will be shown
after 14.00 ,when the “Club lounge” is open for the people to catch up with each
other. Some are going to Tallinn , some to Tampere, others visit a glass
factory and some , like I do ,just take it easy. Enjoy your day. See you later
or tomorrow for the last competition day of this 6th JWGC.
03.07. 18:13 Did I tell you how nice and friendly the Finnish
people are???
18.00; All people here are so terribly nice and hard-working
!!!!!!If you need something , they are ready with 2 to help you…… if it is in
the office, at briefing, or the restaurant ,the motel,at the field while waiting
for the finishes, having a blister, everywhere you find here lovely people,
friends!
Janne was spot on again. The rain was supposed to pass by with
big speed and after 13.00 the sun was supposed to shine. It all happened as he
said….and it turned out to be a nice afternoon! Some crews and TC’s went
indeed for a flight and were more then happy with it. One of the TC’s said he
had 5 m. over the place were all the trees have been cut up to 1500 m. …not too
bad. So a very pleasant day for them as well. In the briefing we heard
that one glider had some damage. Hopefully they were able to repair it today, so
the pilot can fly tomorrow again!!! Tomorrow will be the last flying day!!!!
Time flies when you have fun! Pilots had a good rest and will try to get the
best out of this last day. As you know…ONLY after the last landing on the
last day, the game is over…. Cu tomorrow!!
