05.07. 22:58 The " FINNISH-ING" Touch !
21.00; Back home !
Sorry it took a while, but it seemed my laptop was a bit overworked and did not
want to start.
The party yesterday evening was one big celebration of
friendship and camaraderie. After Happy Hour and dinner the band played and was
as good as forecasted. Dancing, singing and drinking were the ingredients for a
big and long, for some very long night of fun. I heard….that some straight came
from the party to the prize giving this morning and they looked like it as
well.You are only once young!!!!
And then this morning we were all
together at 10.00 for the last time, as group JWGC 2009. Emotional moments for
some, who had worked so hard to make this event successful and what great
success it was!!! You know by now Silva as well as we do. The ceremony
started at 10.00 and was over at 10.30 and it was exactly what such a
presentation should be, not too much not too less. Our 2 GREAT winners
Filipe [ standard class] and Volker [Club class] from Germany were presented
with FAI certificates , CUPS, medals and beautiful birds from Finnish glass.
Wonderful prizes for 2 friendly young men and unbelievable good pilots.
There was no doubt that Felipe was going to win in standard class. He
was just the best this year here in Finland. Michal from Poland tried to make it
difficult for him, but….it did not work out good enough for him….but runner up
is also a great achievement. Another German pilot Daniel was 3d!
In
Club class there was only a difference from 38 points between number 1 Volker
and the runner up Vytautas from Lithuania, TC and pilot and my table partner in
the Hunter Cottage, where I got to know him a bit better. Then just the
smallest differences between the numbers 3 and 6 a total of 13 points…one
thermal too much ???… but Alexander from Germany [3] Killian [France] Sven
[Germany] and Jan from Czech Rep . deserve to be extra mentioned, as it was
interesting to see who would be just a few points better. They brought a lot of
tension in this class ! And…Killian had not a lot of practice because he was
in Afghanistan.
Congratulations to all pilots !!!! National hymns from
Germany for the winners and then the flag from the FAI was carefully brought
down, as well as the Finnish flag, the results were declared valid by the
president of the jury Tor Johannessen and it was time to say good bye! The dream
is no dream any more but a memory to never forget.
It is over now. Thank
you for reading the Ritz Corner with so many. Thank you for the reactions and
friendly comments. Katja will do the finishing touch with the statistics. I
hope you enjoyed it all.
Finland ….a country with trees, lakes, great
clouds, lovely people and a fantastic 6th JWGC. Rayskala will stay in all our
